FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE WHITTLESTONE BREAST EXPRESSER
- Is the Whittlestone SoftAire Expresser quick and easy to clean?
Yes. Easy-to-follow instructions and the highest quality materials make caring for SoftAire a snap.
- Can I control the suction level on the SoftAire Expresser?
Yes. Start with "medium" on the adjustment dial. Place the cup firmly on your breast and begin squeezing the handle rapidly. After 10 strokes or so, press the vacuum dial upward (toward the + sign on the dial) until you have the comfort and speed that is just right for you. *If you adjusted the setting too high for comfort, simply break suction at the breast and move the dial a bit lower, then resume squeezing the handle. Once you find the ideal setting for you, you'll likely not need to adjust suction in the future.
- What is the ideal cycle rate for squeezing the handle?
This is completely individual to your body. Start with squeezing the handle at least once a second, more if you like. Once you get letdown of milk, you can slow down to the speed you find best.
- Squeeze and Hold?
Yes. Many Moms have found it convenient and efficient to practice the 'squeeze and hold' method. Once you have settled into comfortable lactation, you may find it easy to hold the handle in the "squeezed" position for extended periods while milk flows. When the milk stream drops off, 4 or 5 rapid strokes usually regains fast flow.
- Will the Expresser cup accept all nipple sizes?
Yes. Our patented One-way airflow and Pulsation contact the breast gently, rather than requiring you to "push" your breast into a hard, rigid plastic cup.
- Will it be effective on women with inverted nipples?
Yes. However, there will always be exceptions.
- Have any Moms complained about pain while using the Expresser?
No. Just the opposite. Overwhelmingly, Moms tell us the Expresser is the most comfortable device they have ever used.
- What support services do you offer?
Knowledgeable and courteous Customer Service Representatives, Field Sales Representatives and Lactation Consultants available for professional support.
- Do instructions come with each Expresser?
Yes.
- What makes the Expresser better than other pumps?
One-way Airflow and Pulsation are what make the Whittlestone Expresser the best choice in breastmilk expression. One-way Airflow is designed to prevent backflush of material to the breast during expression. Pulsation is designed to relieve the congestion produced by vacuum by gently pushing, or massaging, the breast every time you squeeze the handle. No other device has One-way Airflow and Pulsation: Only Whittlestone!
